Thanks again. Every time I think of that story, I think of another one, where people did the opposite. A few years ago, there was a story in the news about a little girl who got hit by a truck in a shopping mall in China. The girl’s unconscious body lay in the mall for hours, while thousands of people walked past. I like to think that none of them stopped, because each of them thought someone else would do something about it. This is hardly an excuse for doing nothing, but it’s better than the alternative — that everyone was too engrossed in their own shopping, and their own business to notice — or care — that someone needed help.
