It is the holiday season, but it’s also the perfect time to start planning a spring vacation. One place, in particular, that is stunning in the spring is Ireland. Ireland is the home of kelly-green fields, the cliffs of Moher, the Dingle Peninsula and more. It has a unique history steeped in Gaelic culture and folklore. There are too many reasons to visit the Emerald Isle in the spring, so I will cover just a few of them.
Ireland is known for its abundant rain, which helps produce its legendary views. When booking your trip for April or May , you get the chance to see new grass and livestock. Yet, there are other new animals born in the spring as well as, including seals and birds. If fact, Ireland is the perfect place for those who love the outdoors this time of year. Puffins migrate back and the fresh air helps clear the mind when going on hikes on the beautiful cliffs. Another plus is that you avoid the summer crowds and traffic, which gives you the opportunity to truly explore Ireland’s landmarks. One of the most popular attractions is the Blarney Stone. This stone is rumored to bring eloquence to those who kiss it. While visiting the stone, many also visit the Blarney Castle . This castle has much to offer, such as the Witch Stone, Badger’s Cave, and the Dungeon. Another landmark you must visit is the Ring of Kerry (Iveragh Peninsula). It is actually a tourist trail around Kerry. The ring provides breathtaking views of nature and architecture, from the majestic ring forts to the pristine beaches. You can’t leave without Ireland visiting the Guinness Storehouse . With fewer tourists, you can visit the storehouse at a slower pace, taking in all that is Guinness.
The spring is the non-peak season (or Shoulder season) in Ireland. This means that the weather is beautiful and the days are longer. Not to mention travel costs are less than those in the peak months. You will have an easier time securing the lodging you want as well. Without the crowds, hosts and shop keepers can take the time to converse with tourists, giving them advice on the best places to visit.
Ireland is a magical place to visit any time of year, but those who are smart go in the spring. It’s an opportunity to break from the norm and experience what Ireland’s all about. While taking care of your holiday plans, don’t forget to check out Ireland for a spring getaway!
