Why Indonesian is Still Inefficient and Ineffective When it Comes to Groupworks?

One day in campus, I got one assignment that led me to the question,"why are Indonesians such ineffective and inefficient human being?"

I am a busy person. I ride bicycle to send some
documents and I am working at one big company at the same time.On the other hand, i have this family problem that requires me to go back and forth a couple hundreds (or maybe thousands) of miles in order to solve it.

One day, I did one assignment with a bunch of people. I didn't think they would show disagreement when I said I couldn't attend meetup on a regular basis as I had a job and also legal-related family problems to deal with.

As I can't always attend the meetups, I prefer to work remotely, doing the assignment online.
But, instead of being supportive and understanding, what did I get?

They scolded me, as I coudn't meet them in person to finish the assignment together, they said I wasn't working at all. They even had threatened to kick my name out of the group if I didn't come in person to the offline discussion despite my contributions to that assignment. It even got to the point where I was considered as a man full of excuses.

It led me to one big question; WHY THE HELL GOOGLE MADE FUCKING GOOGLE DOCS IF ONE DOESN'T FULLY UTILIZE IT?

In a nutshell, I found that Indonesians are ineffective and inefficient.

Why?
Here's the deal.

Rather than working together in a coffee shop, spending some money on overpriced coffee, and ended up not finishing a single thing on your assignment as you spend 2-3 hours mostly joking around and gossipping others, you can actually work on your assignment with full focus by remotely working online. You don't even have to see your partners' faces yet you can produce something far better than offline discussions.

Why the hell do you need to do face-to-face meetings, with all its possible ineffectivity and ineffiency, and sacrifice your valuable time and money for something that doesn't even deliver any results? Try comparing it to working effectively at home (or everywhere) online. Without sacrificing high amount of time and money for things you actually do not need, you can deliver a better result, yet you are still able to freely enjoy binge eating and binge watching at the same time.

So I came to this conclusion; Indonesians tend to
appreciate more on your physical attendance than your actual constribution to the project. They would appreciate you more if you come in person to the discussion, even if you only put next to nothing contributive effort to the project.

I don't know why, but this is what I found on my daily life. The tendency of this is so big that whenever I have to work on some assignments with the group, I have this particular problem that makes me scratch my head and ask myself, "what the hell were Google Docs actually made for?"
