Yoga has proven itself to be one of the most popular forms of exercise to date, with around 300 million said to be practising worldwide. Not only does it provide physical benefits, but many have also raved about the mental benefits it can provide as well.

The evolution of yoga has even seen dogs and goats incorporated into classes which is said to provide added benefits such as the flow of energy between the dog and owner.

So its no surprise that with the rise in popularity, yoga instructors and enthusiasts have been influencing the public through social media, gaining thousands, even millions of followers in the process.

If you’re a beginner looking to start your yoga journey or maybe you’re looking to connect with other likeminded people, here are eight of the most popular yoga influencers Instagram has to offer:

1. Laura Louise — @lauralouiseyoga

Laura spreads yoga inspiration to her 103k Insta followers right from her Cornish home. She also records and shares 60 minute vinyasa yoga videos on Momence — a platform for class-based businesses to share content.

Give her a follow!

2. Julia — @juliaizyoga

Julia is a Yoga teacher and holistic health coach based in Miami and has grown her following to a huge 17.3k through sharing yoga content. She also encourages beginners to take up yoga saying “you don’t have to be flexible to start”.

We love her!

3. Cat Meffan — @catmeffan

Yoga queen Cat Meffan is quite literally an inspiration after setting up Soul Sanctuary — a platform to inspire yoga practise and personal growth.

4. Federico Blardone— @federico_yoga

Embodied Movement Yoga teacher Federico not only shares admirable poses to his 122k Insta followers, he also makes me extremely envious of his incredible backdrops, I mean surely that is photoshopped???

His supportive and encouraging captions also make him one of this year’s greatest yoga influencers to follow!

5. Hannah Barrett — @hannahbarrettyoga

If you find it difficult to follow poses from looking at pictures, Hannah has you covered! She shares short clips and videos to her Instagram showing different poses and giving much needed advice if you’re finding it tricky. She is also the owner of the Yoga Happy app which provides free classes and daily positive messages.

6. Angela Kukhahn — @angelakukhahnyoga

With 233k followers enjoying Angela’s handstand and yoga tutorials, her expertise and guidance is certainly valued. Her love for yoga started in 2003 following a car accident which left her knees badly damaged and now spends her time inspiring others with the practice. She also holds Zoom classes if you’re looking to get involved!

7. Jennifer Dimitriou — @the_graceful_movement

Jennifer uses her platform to share yoga, pilates and barre exercises to over 31k followers. She also shares short and easy-to-follow clips of yoga flows to energise, awaken and detoxify the body. Incredible!

8. Reema Arora — @vireema

With a massive 688k followers, it’s no wonder yoga coach and nutritionist Reema has been named by Forbes as a Top Creator. She fills her Instagram with yoga inspo and also shares advice on how to relieve back pain through yoga.

It’s no surprise she’s made the list!
