When it comes to styling your home, everyone has their own opinion as to which items should be the investment pieces, and which should be affordable. After all, most of us to have a mixture, unless you’re the lucky devil that is able to afford the luxury of everything.

So whether you’re after the luxury or the affordable, check out some of my top picks.

  1. Jungle prints

It may be getting chilly outside, but it’s still ok to stay tropical inside. The tropical, or ‘junglalow’ trend is everywhere. Add a leafy print cushion to your room for a touch of exotic.

House of Hackney £165; Chrissy Ink Designs (Etsy) £32

2. Marble

Marble has had a bit of a comeback in the interior design. Designers are incorporating it to add a touch of elegance. Since its the pattern that is trendy, you don’t necessarily need to buy real expensive marble.

Magnus Long Coffee Table £1,650; Nestor (Habitat) Coffee Table £595

3. Moroccan Berber rug

A cosy Beni Ourain rug will instantly add texture and warmth to an otherwise bland space (usually the higher quality rugs are thicker and therefore extra cosy). It’s no wonder your Insta feeds are swarmed with them.

Willow Handmade Moroccan Berber Rug (Lilla Rugs) £749; City Cows Berber £499

4. Navy sofa

Navy is the new black. Potentially even the new grey.
Then there’s velvet — a touch of opulence and luxurious comfort. Together, its a heavenly combo!

Florence Knoll Velvet Sofa £11,970; Swoon Editions Tivoli Sofa £1,099

5. Copper Lighting

Unlike most metals, copper creates a warmer aesthetic that is still unquestionably modern. A classic Tom Dixon pendant is the way forward. Have no fear, if that’s a little £££, there are some wonderful alternatives.

Tom Dixon Copper Round Pendant £440; Stylishsauce Copper Assam Pendant £74.99

6. Kilim rug

Been to Soho Farmhouse yet? There is a reason it’s swarmed with Kilim textures. Add a dash of culture with one of these beauties. As a flat-weave rug, they’re handily at the more affordable end of the handmade rug spectrum.

Anatolian Mut Kilim Rug £1,295; Fern Kilim Runner Rug (Lilla Rugs) £149

7. Chunky knit throw

Cosy cosy cosy.

Ohhio Grande Chunky Blanket £234; Bonways Chunky Blanket £99.99

8. Wishbone dining chairs

Finally a beautifully sculpted, scandi style dining chair, that is also super comfy to sit on!

Carl Hansen & Søn Wishbone Chair x1 £620; Notonthehighstreet set of 2 wishbone chairs £485.50

9. Vintage area rug

It can’t be denied that vintage pieces have charm and a look uniquely their own. While I’m never opposed to saving, some things are definitely worth investing in, and a handmade rug is one of them.

Laili Persian Kilim Senneh Handmade Rug (Lilla Rugs) £999; French Connection Screen-printed Durrie Rug £155

10. Round mirror

It seems lots of designers are choosing simple and minimal designs that create a huge statement.

John Lewis Round Mirror £150; Zara Home Round Mirror £69.99

& there you are! Top 10 picks — the luxury & the affordable.
