I'll Be Okay
I woke up today
Not the same as yesterday
Yesterday I saw evil
Ingeniously veiled as love
I woke up today
with a new breed of pain
Deeper than heartache
Further than betrayal;
with a stone heart
and a cold soul
I woke up today
with familiar pain
Not the same as yesterday;
It's worse than portrayed,
to find love distorted
It comes in all forms; contorted
As an effective, sharp weapon
I woke up today,
realized compassion is scarce;
rarely genuine
And evil is clever as well as supremely prevalent
I cannot be touched, but feel enough;
with a lesson learned
and another scar;
brand new and wiser than yesterday;
Today I think I'll be okay
