Loving the Kiwi Life

just a quick update

Wow! I’ve been here for two weeks already? I promise I’ll stop neglecting the blog. Today is the fourth day of classes, although we still have another week to solidify which ones we want to take. As per usual, I’ve signed up for too many- but hopefully I’ll fix that ☺

But that is enough about that! I’ve absolutely LOVED it here since day one. Even the safety videos on my forever-long flight were entertaining. Naturally they were hobbit themed and had remarks such as “life jackets are easy to master!…. and may your beard grow ever longer!”

My first weekend here was filled with fun, like picnics and concerts in the park, and long walks around town. Hagley Park sprawls 400 acres and offers activities from croquet to botanical gardens to golf. It’s absolutely fabulous.

The first full week here involved Sumner’s Bay/ Taylor’s Mistake Hike, orientation, and Port Hills/Victoria Hills. I should go more into these fun outings, and I might at some point. As for now, I must go to the clubs fair so I can report more exciting outings.

I promise to someday write about those hikes, as well as Kaikoura and stargazing under the Milky Way. Oh, and the epic tornado we drove through! That would all be too exciting for one blog post though.

Fun Fact: My favorite kiwi phrase I’ve picked up so far is Sweet As.
