I’m sorry to hear about your experience.

There is definitely room for improvement in tech. However, every industry has its flaws. Coming from a premed background and having been in academia, I genuinely feel tech is one of the better industries out there for women. My experience in tech has been so much better than my experience in the medical and academia fields, where hierarchy is so obvious and people make a point to make it obvious.

For one, I think tech is very liberal and welcoming.

It’s a weird coincidence that I saw this post after someone put a comment on mine (my post in hackernews), and that we published ours on the same day.

I’m sorry you had this experience with tech, but please keep in mind that not all companies are like that. Not all of tech is like that.

Please don’t quit. Keep being strong and keep coding! :)
