Breaking Up is Breaking Down

Break ups are notoriously the worst part of dating. Heartbreak is enough to drive many of us into despair, sometimes lessened by a tub of ice cream and a bottle (or two) of wine. Many songs, television episodes, and movies are focused on break ups, but almost always they empathize with the person who was dumped.

We rarely see the side of the dumper, or talk about what it is like to have to break up with someone you care about. Because we don’t have large cultural conversations about how to break up with someone, typically break ups are not handled with much tact.
