Muslim Stereotypes

Racial profiling is a controversial topic in today’s society, it’s also a very sensitive topic every individual can relate to. When we are children we are taught not to judge a book by it’s cover, and for most of us this is easier said than done. Racial profiling has a huge affect on millions of people living in this country. Seemingly innocent people are being targeted solely by the color of their skin and their nationality. It occurs everyday, in cities, small town across a country. Police prejudice and racial profiling are responsible for many false arrests, convictions. It is a difficult and unfortunate part of life that certain groups of human beings must face this inequality because of their skin color, and their religion. In today’s episode we hear how US government treated Muslim people living in this country
“Here a real life story that I found on internet about a guy have to deal of how people treated him differently just because he is Muslims.
“I’m tired of being told that it’s a random search every single time. I have fewer rights when I walk into an airport because I’m brown. I always have to feel on edge because I know I’m being looked at suspiciously, and not being I’ve done anything wrong, but because I’m one of the two million Muslims living in this country in a post 9/11 era.I get it. My name is Azeem Khan. It’s not James Williams. That’s why I got picked. It wasn’t random. I understand that. So does the person telling me it’s random. When police officers want to do racial profiling in the streets in Arizona or in Harlem, there is an outcry of people talking about how it’s not the American way to do so. So why is everyone silent when it’s done at the airport to innocent people like me? Why aren’t people standing up for me? The white guy who’s standing behind me will never know what it’s like. He’s never going to get randomly searched like I do. So he’s never going to stand up for me. Don’t get me wrong; I take issue with Muslims on this too.”
My question is, “Is it right to judge somebody just because they look different than you?”. Racial profiling occurs too often among Muslims. They have been the scapegoats of America ever since terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. As each new terrorist threat occurs, Muslims that live in America are feared more. Why would they afraid of this? Well, because of stereotypes that people who are Muslims are dangerous people. When racial profiling is being used, they are treated unfairly and their rights are practically nonexistent. Racial profiling towards Muslims occurs mostly in airports, is embarrassing, and often unjustified. We can not let racial profiling continue. It’s useless also has a huge effect to people daily life as well. Racial profiling may affect on our investigation process by waste time on innocent suspects. Don’t let a negative small group impact to the rest of Muslim living in America. They are INNOCENT PEOPLE.We are all human and we all have our human right to be treated equally, for Muslim people that they do not deserve to be treated like that.
