The Encyclopedia of Obscure Explanations

My favourite thing to think about whenever I have nothing do to (or when I’m in the shower), is condensing concepts into concise explanations. To be honest, the explanations often compact to the point of obscurity. However, it’s fun to incrementally reduce a long-winded description to just a few words, or start with a few words and add words until it makes sense. So here, in alphabetical order, is the encyclopedia of obscure explanations. (It’s very short, but it will get updated continually)

Gen Z Humour

Funny because it exists.

The state of this world.

There’s no joke, punchline, or even any comedic concepts in gen Z humour. The only thing funny is the fact that someone sat down, decided to put a non-zero amount of effort and time to make utter nonsense, then put it on the internet for everyone to see.

Information/Knowledge

Something that points to something else.

Words point to concepts. Memories point to experiences. Data points to measurements.

Love

Giving.

To love someone is to give to them at a personal level. There’s a notion that you feel loved when you receive, but receiving has nothing to do with how much you care about someone. Maybe a relationship can be started by one person giving and the other receiving. But it won’t last unless the giving is mutual. It doesn’t have to be material. It can be attention, care, and just being there — so that they can give to you and feel loved. So be someone worth giving to.
