😘 Hey people, these days a lot of people are starting to use Telegram as their main messaging app, Telegram has a lot of features that beats Whatsapp hands down. Telegram already has over 200 million active users, that’s 40 times the population of Singapore! Moreover, groups that can contain up to 100K members interacting and chatting, like a IRC but way better with BOT features and Stickers (there’s even a Yanxi Palace Sticker OMG!)! Also, with Announcement channels, one can subscribe to different content providers instead of signing up for various apps. In real time, you can stand to receive content from different creators!

Having used Telegram for nearly 2 years, this is my mini-compilation of all the useful Telegram groups and channels which I think you should join! ✈️

🔱 General Topics 🔱

▪️@sgWhereTo — An alternative to @sgConcert. Feeling emotional on a Friday night not knowing WhereTo go? Well, there’s always @sgWhereTo that take cares of that decision making process! The best events in town are well curated in this channel, rest assured your fridays are always going to be well-spent.

▪️@sgFoodies — Deals, promotions and discounts for local food. From your favourite restaurants, cafes or your daily hawkers, the channel brings the food right in front of you. Enjoy your delicious Singaporean gourmet while saving that few bucks so that you can eat more the next time! It frequently partners with outlets for non-sponsored exclusive promotions for its members, I guess it’s take dogsbody work to consistently reach out to others for our benefit!

▪️@KiasuFoodies — A similar channel to @sgFoodies, in fact they also have a Facebook group for more and more food promotions! Similar to @sgFoodies, their food promotions are nicely curated and are unsponsored. This gives me lots of confidence in them as compared to the many sprawling “food reviews” groups on Facebook especially.

▪️@sgConcert — For those who likes to Jay Chou or Adele’s Rolling in the Deeeeep, this is the perfect channel for you! Get ready to receive news on the latest up and coming concerts in Singapore, be the first to know of them!

Again, latest concerts and happenings in Town go right into my phone with this channel!

▪️@sgAirfarePromos — Hustlers or travellers likewise, this is the place to be! Be it going for a business trip or a very well-deserved vacation, that few dollars saved from the airfare promotion goes a long way!

▪️@sgCabPromos — Promo codes for Grab and CDG. Quite straightforward, for us kiasu Singaporeans who always wish to squeeze that extra mile, LOL.

SGCareers and SGInternship

▪️@sgCareers — A one-stop Career channel for Singaporean, Singapore PR and Foreigners who are looking for great careers in Singapore. Personally, I like how they feature the different jobs, it is always very organized so that it’s clear who to contact. The best thing? It’s free, it’s not some agencies taking a cut but merely an information channel to connect both ends. Instead of searching all over the place to look for openings, perhaps it’s easier to look at the channel for curated listings?

▪️@sgInternship — Another awesome Internship channel for students who are exploring cool internships. As a final year student myself, I have not much used for this, because… As you’ve guessed it, I’m graduating soon! But I’ll guess this will prove to be important for my juniors in their search for internships, good luck!

▪️@sgData — A group for Data Enthusiasts to look into Data Analytics, Data Science, Machine Learning, Convolution Neural Networks, Reinforced Learning and so on. These days I’ve been reading up on AI because who isn’t? Great to chance upon this group for me to socialize with the great experts in the group lololol.

Members discussing how to kickstart their learnings of Data Science on @sgData!

▪️@sgBTO — For all newly wedded couples, still in the jioing phase couples, looking to buy flats to discuss all the upcoming BTO flats! YOLO, better not make that decision anyhow but to do my research first with other fellow BTO-queuers. Good to know how’s the new BTO site like from the other people’s recce.

Just kind people sharing information on the latest BTO units floorplans.

▪️@sgTuitions — A channel for listing tuition assignments, many people can use this platform to pitch themselves as tutors or to post their requirements for tutors. Used to use this channel to get tutees but nobody wants to hire me, sad life. Unlike the usual tuition channels which is probably reserved for one particular agency to manage and utilize, this @sgTuitions allows all agencies to post their assignments so prospective tutors need not subscribe to all sorts of channels belong to different agencies. Furthermore, tutors/tutees themselves can post their profiles/requests on this channel as well!

Latest Updates on 31 December 2018: @sgTuitions has recently launched their @sgTuitionsBot! It enables parents, student and tuition agents to post directly onto the channel without any waiting time. Tutors can directly apply for the assignments after which the assignment posters can get in touch directly to prospective tutors in a seamless, automated process!

▪️@sgNTU — A group for NTU students to mingle and share about the latest happening in NTU. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS, it’s like 7000+ students and nearly 1800 of them are inside? An absolutely great resource if you’re ever lost in school.

▪️@NTUFreeFood — Easily one of the best channels ever, as a student in NTU, I’m always hungry and poor. NTU Free Food channel appeals to me so much that the moment I discovered it, I added many of my friends in. It’s so straightforward, all I’ve got to do is OFF its notification and get notified immediately each time some kind souls in the campus decided to open the catered buffet to all the bellies!

Did you hear the food calling your name?

▪️@NUSBuffetResponseTeam — What a name! Buffet Response Team, yeah, that’s who we are. Swifter than the SWAT team when we receive news of incoming contact of free food from our spies. Seriously though, a great shoutout and thanks to those who created @NUSBuffetResponseTeam and @NTUFreeFood, doing an excellent job for the student communities.

With 8400 members strong, they are easily the strongest Food Army in Singapore! LOL.

▪️@MapleStoryMSingapore — A group dedicated for all the Singaporean MapleStory M lovers! I quitted the game quite long ago but it is still fine to be in, lots of activities are still going on inside. These days, many people are selling their in-game items on the chat, I guess that’s better than doing it via Carousell since you get your targeted buyers here, all under one-chat.

▪️@CryptoSG — Did you guys got the reference on bitcoin in the korean movie titled “Along with the Gods 2: The Last 49 Days”? Yes, it’s not some digital coins for nerds anymore, apparently, there are at least 5000 people in Singapore who are into it. Well, like Seongju (the “House God” in the movie), how I wish I bought bitcoins in 2010 and I’ll be lepaking now! T.T

Make it count, brothers!

Let me know what other channels/groups you think are awesome! I’ll add it here! PM me on Telegram (duh!) @zhenhelim. See ya!
