Massive Minutiae — No Such Things as Small
as usual, this first/foremost a reminder to me own silly self. if it helps you think or better yet do better, then that is a success beyond what i could have hoped. but i’m just trying to figure stuff out as i go..someday i won’t feel the need to make such prefaces.
today i thought a quick post on so-called “little things” might be good. i feel as if i need a note-to-self that there really are no little things, not in the figurative sense. when we think about it– the most massive mountain ever spawned from Earth’s tectonic crust, the tallest skyscraper ever built, the biggest man you ever did see…all are composed of things so small we cannot even see them.
we know this; so how, pray tell, did we ever convince ourselves (fine Freud, I/myself) that “little actions don’t matter”? That is anti-karmic and antithetical to the universe, best that I and people far smarter and wiser than me can tell.
we have to see each and every one of our actions as seeded with the potential to make real, massive, tangible change. of course that’s not always the outcome.
but the idea that embedded in each and every of our thoughts, emotions, and most of all actions is the weight of revolutionary metamorphosis is awesome– we’re all massive agents of change.
and as a corollary — though we humans often like to deny reality and push another away, we are all basically connected, no matter how intimately or remotely. we are all made up of the tiniest imaginable atoms; the so-called little gives life to the so-called big– never let someone tell you that you cannot make a difference! if .01 seconds can decide glory and riches; if three simple words can change a nation’s fate, if a baby’s smile can melt the iciest of hearts…please then never let ’em tell you that small margins do not have massive potential.
i believe that we owe it to our ancestors, we owe it to ourselves living here and now, and we sure as hell owe it to future generations to always keep this close in mind.
