Kevin Lyons mural displayed in Raleigh, NC is the new design for the Vans “Finish It” truth campaign. His artwork, which was completed in an area of high youth smoking, contained messages from the public health organization to eliminate tabacco. This campaign encourages young adults to be the generation to end smoking.

These Kevin Lyons vans are a limited time edition shoe selling at 60 dollars retail price. Since their release date, January 20, they have been available in Journey stores worldwide. Vans CEO and founder, Paul Van Doren , said, “Our company has a market for young teenagers, concert scenes and skate parks. The ‘Finish It’ campaign was our way to bring antismoking into those locations.” With this partnership between Vans and the Truth Campaign, both have benefitted from the pairing. The Truth’s Public Relations Representative, Bill Smith, stated, “We just keep moving forward. One step toward ending smoking was to relate our messages back to the youth. Through clothing, style and Kevin, we were able to move closer to the direction of our goal.”

Lyons has been and artist for years and started selling his designs to different companies. What started as a drawing and a note to his daughter, ended as a clothing design, a mural, and a message to exile tobacco usage. Lyons is passionate about the “Finish It” truth campaign and finds his work an asset for Vans motive. Lyons explains, “These designs relate to the youth, and in connecting my designs with this campaign, I hope for them to also relate to the importance of the message behind the design .”
