That’s amazing, really. So many people talk as if novels are born wholly of their imagination and the almighty plot, but I’ve known many writers who tell me the characters need to be free to do their thing.
My daughter writes, and does a similar thing. When she’s stuck, she writes the backstory of each character. Often the direction of the story becomes clearer when she dives into the characters that way.
The process of fiction writing truly amazes me.
