What It’s Like to Be Invisible

Leila, thank you for sharing this. It’s incredible that this is still happening! I first encountered it at my husband’s work Christmas party.

He did introduce me to his bosses who then proceeded to ignore me, was I invisible? or did I simply not matter?.

I was gob smacked because I was feeling pretty pleased with myself, I had just been promoted to Professor of Computing and had recently returned from speaking at a conference in the USA.

It just amused me and made me pay special attention to the other ‘wives’ at the event. I left them to it… This was in 1997.
