Procrastinate
I have a test that I have been preparing for. The stress associated with this exam is massive. The pressure in my brain on the day of the exam is going to be monumental. Unfortunately, I live with the stress like a constant rain cloud over my head. And, as reality of this major hurdle becomes heavier and heavier as the test date nears, I find myself hiding under the umbrella of procrastination. I have become very regimented in my daily tasks. So regimented that I don’t seem to leave enough room to actually study.
One of my many avenues of procrastination has been listening to audio books and going on walks. My current book is, “The 5 Second Rule,” by Mel Robbins. And guess what chapter I have been listening to…if you guessed, “Procrastination,” you are the big winner. In her book, Mel states that the biggest way to beat procrastination is in 3 steps.
1) Forgive yourself for procrastinating
2) Recognize and name the cause of your stress
3) Then, 5…4…3…2…1 Blast off…just get started.
This suggested method has given me a new-found push to get studying. The countdown to the exam has been initiated and I am so close. I will not stop…not until this exam has been taken down. I have come too far and have experienced too much to ever give up. There are people who pass this thing the 1st time and there are people who will take this thing many times before they conquer it. Whichever camp I fall into, I will be grateful that I have the courage to take another step in the right direction.
