I respect your view completely and agree I am most definitely a moderate Republican, but your statement that my values would be better represented by another party is exactly the perception of the woman I reference in my article.

Perhaps you’re right that I have in my heart and mind the values of a Republican party from another generation. Perhaps that is why I was so disappointed by the results of the election. I had my heart set on a candidate who unfortunately dropped out of the race.

Just on a personal note, I do recognize the value of and have much respect for many Democratic legislators and elected officials. I tend to vote by the candidate, not the party, creating yet another discord between myself and Republicans that just vote the party line. I live in the Chicagoland area where there is a large Democratic stronghold, so in many cases there simply isn’t a Republican to vote for, anyway.(As it was, my ballot in the general election was all over the place.)
