I think there are good ideas out there coming from legislators on both sides — we just need to look and listen for them. I don’t know about your news and information gathering habits, so this is more a general comment, but I think oftentimes people only hear the things discussed by media on one side of the spectrum. I like to watch, listen and read about ideas and discussions happening on the “other side” so I’m not constantly hearing the same rhetoric or dialogue reinforced day in and day out.

Re: your question about solutions… I think about this a lot, especially in discussions with my fiance who is a Democrat (and a very bright one). I always end up wishing I knew everything about all the issues I care about, and could come up with great ideas about how to fix things. I don’t ever claim to have all the answers, but I will always strive to be a person who listens, learns and thinks about solutions.
