What is an NFC Tag?
A Near Field Communication (NFC) tag is a small device that you can configure to perform an action. To trigger the action, you only need to bring your NFC-enabled smartphone up to the NFC tag for the two to wirelessly communicate with one another.
NFC tags are especially great for renters because they are portable and do not require much physical setup. Some tags come as a sticker, which makes it easy to attach to surfaces, but I personally just use some masking tape to attach tags to the wall — this way, I can easily move them around without ruining the paint on the wall.
NFCs are also super affordable and you can usually get them for less than $1 per tag. I got my pack of NFC tags from Amazon.
