You’re FIRED! Revisiting my Relationship With “Potential Clients”

When I focused on offering ONE thing, Copywriting Alchemy (a unique copywriting process with clarity coaching and my psychic/empath superpowers baked in, along with a Midas touch,) it was awesome.

I thought I was finally on my dime — standing up for my clients’ conviction and giving voice to their lives’ work — and we can all live happily ever after.

No so quick…

Soon I realized that the intense process of delving into every aspect of a client and her life’s work left me quite psychically drained after each call or writing session. (In a good way, like a good bike ride… but still exhausting.)

Plus, I could only work with one or two clients at a time to maintain the high energetic quality of the work, because, heck, who wants muddled energy in their copy??

I LOVE the work that I do with you folks. However, psychically I’d be running a deficit if I take on too many clients all at once.

I needed a more diverse business model.

One that allows me to leverage my digital marketing knowledge, content strategy experience, and copywriting skills while honing them further so I can distil the latest industry best practices and apply them for my unique Business Soulwork clients who burst with personality.

During the past few months, I’ve worked with a slew of clients, including marketing agencies, SaaS companies, retailers, and service professionals in various industries on their content marketing and content creation projects — turns out, the variety suits the ADHD part of me quite well ;)

And I’m cooking up an approach called Content Experience Design — I promise, I’ll explain soon.

This additional stream of revenue was doing me a whole lot of good — not only for the dollars and cents.

But for the CLARITY.

The distance gave me the time and space to ponder because I’m not knee deep in “how do I sell my stuff to my audience (you) to make the numbers.”

I started to examine my relationship with my peeps (you).

I wanted to deeply question the expression of my values and conviction through my business.

To discern what truly makes me tick vs. what I’ve been told to do to build a “such and such” business.

To shed the labels and how I’m supposed to work with clients because of those labels.

To stop spending time scheming about the next launch or sales campaign or marketing tactic and just do good work.

To stop twisting my message to fit the market.

To discern what I really need to say vs. what the market wants to hear (look around, everyone is regurgitating the same thing because some guru said something and everyone thinks the market wants to hear that.)

To stop pondering how to “attract” clients and just do good work.

I know working with my Business Soulwork peeps allows for the fullest expression of my values, convictions, and superpowers. And I owe it to everyone to do it right.

I have decided to FIRE YOU as a “prospect” or “potential client.”

So I can change the way I write to you.

I want to stop thinking about selling you stuff and focus on how we can make magic together.

I don’t know how it’s going to look like. Maybe the “expression” will be nothing different. (i.e. I’ll still be writing copy for you.)

But I’d feel a whole lot more aligned with what I say and how I say it.

I’d love the energy I put behind the work. I’d enjoy more time working with gold star clients and less time chasing bright shiny objects.

I can cut out the marketing busywork that doesn’t ring true.

And I’ll still be emailing you. I’ll still be telling you that I’ll write the damn thing for you. Because I love writing you and I love writing for you.
