Go’s march to low-latency GC

Rhys,

In your opening paragraph, you make the following claims about Go:

“Its simplicity, safety, performance, and readability”

I can mostly agree with this statement, however, I believe calling Go “safe” is a bit of a stretch. The only major safety feature that it has is a garbage collector. It’s extremely easy to have common bugs like data races that aren’t detectable by the race detector, and generally relies solely on the developer to adhere to unenforced conventions, AKA “Idiomatic Go”. I’m not saying that Go isn’t great, but it seems to get allot of hype without being clear about it’s short comings. Just my 2 cents :)

Thanks!
