How To Find A Co-Founder in Israel?
Finding the right co-founder for your venture can be a difficult, lengthy process.
Since I’m often asked by other Israeli entrepreneurs where can they find a co-founder, and I think finding a co-founder is an essential but lengthy process for most entrepreneurs, I’ve decided to write a blog post about it.
This post was originally written in 2013, so I would love to hear your suggestions so I can keep the list comprehensive and up-to-date.
Founders Nation
Founders Nation is a websites that pairs up Israeli co-founders. You can apply either with or without an idea, hare a bit of info about yourself, your skills and what you’re looking for. It allows you to search for others founders by skillset. Highly recommended (Link)
Meetups & Pairup Events
There are some Israeli meetups that host co-founders pair-up events:
- The Israeli Founders Pair-Up Group — hosts a pair-up night every month.
- StartHub — hosts a speed-dating night every month or so, plus occasional lectures about pitching and investors.
- The Junction — hosts a pair-up night every several months, as well as entrepreneurial & technological lectures on a weekly basis.
- Co-Founders Wanted of Tel-Aviv — no activity on this meetup yet, but keep your eyes open
Following are some great entrepreneurial meetups that don’t host pairup meetings, but they are a great place to find potential co-founders:
Mobile Monday Tel-Aviv, GarageGeeks, TechAviv Founders Club, StarTAU, Hub Tel-Aviv
Facebook Groups
The following groups on Facebook have a high density of Israeli Entrepreneurs. You can post a message there, telling others what you do, and why they should join you on your endavor:
Note: posting once a month should be enough, please don’t spam these groups.
Social Media Marketing
Social Media can be amazingly effective if you have an entrepreneurial network.
Just write a post on Facebook, telling others about your new venture, what are you bringing to the table, and what are you looking for in a co-founder.
A few years back, I’ve created such a post on Facebook. It has been shared by a dozen friends, increasing its reach several fold. In the next couple of weeks, over 30 people reached out to me interested to join as a co-founder. Epic.
Email and Distribution Lists
Yep, I know. email is quite old-fashioned, but it still works.
Prepare a concise and well-thought email explaining what you’re looking for and why should people join you.
Send it to friends, acquaintances and other entrepreneurs you know and ask them to share with relevant people.
If you know any relevant distribution-lists of professionals (e.g. Google Group), send it over there as well.
Pick Up The Phone
Call your friends, acquaintances, other well-connected people you know. Tell them what you’re looking for, and ask which of their friends might be interested and are worth talking to.
Other Ways to Find Israeli Co-Founders?
As we’ve seen, there are many places to find an Israeli co-founder.
However, finding the right person is a lengthy process. It requires focus, deliberate effort, and eventually luck.
