Floor scrubber machines, in common parlance are floor cleaning devices. With the advent of automation, the traditional cleaners like mop and duster have been replaced with machines that scrub the floor, known as the Automatic Floor Scrubbers or the Floor Scrubber Machines. They are equipped with automated system for dispensing the cleaning solution to the floor and then scrub it, followed by vacuuming up the dirty liquid with sponging equipment installed in the machine. To ensure that the dirty and clean water do not get mixed up, there are separate tanks for dispensing liquid and collection of dirty water.

Such Floor Scrubbers are definitely more hygienic and quicker alternative of cleaning as compared to the traditional methods. These machines can also keep a check on the water used and disposed of, and some of them can even do the cleaning even without water making them environmentally viable.

The floor scrubber machines are result of evolution of vacuum cleaners, which were invented in the year 1860 originally as a carpet sweeper by Daniel Hess of USA followed by the ‘Whirlwind’ model, invented in USA by Ives McGaffey in the year 1868. The first motorised vacuum cleaner was invented in UK by Hubert Cecil Booth in the year 1901. From then to the current machines, there have been plethora of changes and improvements, making the lives of users much simpler, where with a press of button larger areas can be quickly cleaned and with much lesser hassles. The automated scrubbers available now have a long list of features and operations that it is not difficult to use them in any different setting and areas. The types, models and designs also have lot of options. These machines range from foldable to non-foldable, battery operated to directly-connected to power source, walking or riding, or even the pre-programmed ones.

Let us examine these various kinds of floor scrubbing machines:

i) Folding and Non- folding Floor Scrubbers

These kind of scrubbing machines are the easiest to store. The parts of these machines can be detached after use and can be folded effortlessly for easy storage. Whereas, the non-folding ones are stored as it is.

ii) Battery Operated or Power Operated Floor Scrubbers

These are such scrubbing machines which have in-built batteries. Such machines are ideal for cleaning of larger areas where it is difficult to plug in the socket with the power supply. Whereas, the other ones need to be constantly connected with power source.

iii) Ride-on or Walking Floor Scrubbers

To clean large areas it is easier to ride-on a machine and clean, whereas for smaller areas, the cleaner can walk behind the machine.

iv) Robotic Floor Scrubbers

These are the pre-programmed ones which do not need human intervention.
