Dreaming of Iceland

Right now I’m in Massachusetts where I lived before moving to Georgia. I jokingly refer to Massachusetts as “The Great White North” because the winters are so cold here. I’ve never actually been to The Great White North, but I did travel to Iceland in 2014.

I had been aching to see Iceland for a long time, so I joined a trip organized by a women’s travel Meetup group and went sightseeing on my own. I don’t regret going, but the natural beauty of Iceland is so staggering that I do regret my husband Kevin wasn’t there to share it with me. As with my trip to India, I noticed that many Icelanders live a very simple life. Somehow this simplicity magnifies the majesty of the surroundings.

I took 565 photos on that trip. Here are a few of the highlights:

South coast farmland
Skogafoss waterfall
Solheimajokull glacier
Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon
Black lava sand beach — South coast
Moss covered lava rock fields — south coast
Arctic fox
Gullfoss waterfall
Icelandic horse & rider
East coast on the trip back to the airport from the capital city of Reykjavik
