Dear Erin, I’m so, so sorry you lost your dad. I had the pleasure of having breakfast with him and a group of B.U. folks at a conference the summer before he started teaching there. I told him I wrote essays on Medium, and he listened with interest to everything I had to say, even though I’m neither a professor, nor a journalist and was just getting started as a writer in the world. I’ll never forget how lovely and generous he was to listen to me because I was so excited about Medium.
