EARLY LIFE

Yoga twins Alexandria and Anastasia Duval, formerly known as Ann and Allison Dadow were only five years old when they lost their mother, Maureen. This left them and their older sister in the care of their father, Doctor John Dadow. As a way to make up for the girls’ loss of their mother and the fact that he was hardly ever home due to his long hours at work, he would give the girls anything they wanted, and let them do anything they wanted. The girls never really had a lot of friends, as they preferred to stay quiet and under the radar, and they hardly ever even dated. All they really wanted was each other. It’s been stated by multiple classmates and people who knew them that they were extremely close, to the point where they would even take showers together. They had so much love for each other, but also had a lot of room to hate each other as well. People said they would argue and bicker like an old married couple. As soon as one of them started talking to someone else, the other would get mad and scream at them to stop. They didn’t want to share each other’s attention. Their fights would get so brutal that they’d end up actually hitting each other and pulling each other’s hair. The twins also loved to party and drink quite a lot, and always had tons of money on them from their father. It’s stated that the girls’ personalities would change for the worse whenever they were drinking. Their relationship was quite literally a love hate relationship. It was clear that they secretly envied each other and always wanted to be the “better” twin. Even though they were only in high school at the time, their problems with alcohol became serious, which only grew worse as they got older.

THE GOOD

After high school the family moved out of New York and relocated to Florida and the twins ended up attending college in St Petersburg and Tampa. They never had different ambitions in life, and wanted to do everything together, even sharing the same career. Which is why they both moved to the Palm Beach area so they could open up their Twin Power Studio in 2008. The first location was in Palm Beach Gardens and their second location, which was opened three years after the original, was in downtown West Palm Beach. They planned to have a third location in Boca Raton, but it never ended up happening. The twins were thriving and their business seemed to be flourishing. They were living a high life, that’s for sure. They drove fancy expensive cards, lavish shopping sprees, and just living it up in wealth. They were so popular, loved, and trusted.

THE BAD

After a while of living it up in the starlight, they ended up betraying the trust of their employees and customers when they closed down the studio without any notice, without paying their employees, and without reimbursing their customers. This happened because the girls just couldn’t pay for their business anymore. They rented a new apartment that was way out of their budget, and after a plan with a reality TV show that claimed they’d help the girls keep their lavish lifestyle fell through, they ended up shutting down both of their studios in Florida and bolted it to Utah.

The twins opened up another yoga studio in a fancy ski resort located in Park City, Utah. In this studio they offered various types on yoga disciplines, including “Doga” which was yoga for dogs. However, their time in Utah was short lived due to legal trouble from multiple instances of alcohol related charges, and then also having to file for bankruptcy. Allison had multiple arrests on DUI’s, driving without insurance, public intoxication, disorderly conduct, and fleeing the scene of an accident. Ann was arrested for public intoxication, disorderly conduct, assault on a police officer, and interfering with an arrest. Between them both, their credit card debts were over $200,000. They ended up moving again in 2016 to Hawaii, where they officially changed their names. Allison became Alexandria, and Ann became Anastasia, with the last name Duval. They found somewhere to live together in Mau, and began their lives there like they had everywhere else. Lot’s of praying and drinking, and each of them had a steady boyfriend. They eventually both lived with their boyfriends in a big rental in Mau.

THE UGLY

It was in that same year on May 29th that a tragedy would strike, a fight turned deadly after a night of drinking. Just a few towns over on a very dangerous road on the edge of a cliff, the girls were witnessed by multiple people to be fighting in their car, hitting each other and pulling at each other’s hair. Some sources say they were driving the whole time while they were fighting, and other’s state that they were originally parked. Nonetheless, Alexandria was seen speeding off while Anastatia was pulling her hair, and they turned and drove off the cliff. Anastasia was found dead at the scene, while Alexandria was seriously injured, but survived. Anastasia was found holding a clump of her sister’s hair in her hand, which would be used later in court as evidence. It was argued that this was an act of a murder suicide, while others argued that this was purely an accident.

Federico Bailey, Anastasia’s boyfriend, told the press that on the day of the crash he and Anastasia were going on a couples camping trip, and Alexandria insisted on joining them, which sparked a very heated fight between the two of them. It wasn’t uncommon for the sisters to accompany each other on their dates, but this time Anastasia really didn’t want the company. They took his car and drove off, and when they came back they seemed to be in a much better mood. However, he became upset when he realized they bought alcohol, so he went to take a walk to cool himself off and when he came back, they had left again. Federico couldn’t stand when the sisters drank. He states, “they were great people when they were sober, but the minute they started drinking they were like Jekyll and Hyde.” Federico also stated that he wasn’t surprised about what happened, as he had overheard the girls saying weeks previously that they were going to kill each other, and saying that they wouldn’t be alive much longer. However, for some reason I don’t believe this line was used in Alexandria’s trial.

THE TRIAL

Alexandria was arrested for the suspicion that she purposely drove off the cliff to kill her and her sister. However, she was released after the judge claimed that there was no probable cause to assume that she would want to kill herself or her sister, and she moved to upstate New York. However, a few months after she moved she was arrested again after a jury indicted her. As far as evidence goes, there was really not much to go on. Outside of the skid marks on the road showing acceleration of the car, witnesses stating that they saw Alexandria making a sharp turn off of the cliff so suddenly, making prosecutors believe that the turn was completely intentional, and also stating facts about their toxic relationship, they had nothing else to really go off of. Federico Bailey did state however, that Alexandria’s behavior became very strange the days following her sister’s death. He told the jury that she began wearing Anastasia’s clothes, acting just like her sister, and even cuddling next to him on the couch in a very flirtatious way. It was kind of like Alexandria was jealous of her sister and literally wanted to be her. The defense used the fact that she and her sister loved each other so deeply, and they had an extremely close relationship despite the toxic fights that they had, and they had no reason to ever want to kill each other. They’re twins, and losing their twin would be completely devastating. Now to add salt to the wound, you’re accusing Alexandria of the murder of that twin. He also said that it was purely an accident due to the alcohol in their system, and the physical fighting and hair pulling just completely distracted Alexandria from the road. Anastasia had yanked on her hair so hard that it ripped out of her skull, hence why we saw a clump of hair in her hand at the scene. The judge stated that the clump of hair in Anastasia’s hand was the most powerful form of evidence that was actually shown. If Alexandria was convicted, she would be serving life in prison. In the end the grand jury said she was not guilty in her sister’s death, and she was able to walk free. However, some people were not truly convinced that this was purely an accident. Some people believe it really was a murder suicide mission, and were disappointed by the verdict as evidence clearly showed at least reckless behavior, and they believe she should’ve been given some time in prison. To this day, it remains a mystery of what really happened that night.
