Black in Seattle.

I SO understand this! I have just had a VeRy similar experience in the San Francisco Bay Area. I’ve lived there for the past five years. Although I LOVED the city, environmentally — the racial venom was just too thick and deep for me to stand for another day. As Ruby Dee so aptly put it, one must ‘drink it from the atmosphere.’ I’d had enough and was literally drunk from the nasty venomous vibration. Eight weeks ago, I packed up and left my heart in San Francisco for a LIFE in Atlanta. It has been culture shock in a very good way. HOME, again.

Thank you for sharing! I get it! And mourn for the residents there — the great LOSS that they’ve experienced. Me.
