Is Julia Serano right that transwomen are female?

Usual incoherent and illogical TERF and religious right based nonsense, along with tiresome old hysterical hyperbole.

For decades we have been hearing that trans people (though the obsession is nearly always about trans women showing the clear misogyny that underlies all this) will ‘erase’ women…and feminism .. and lesbians and … so on. The Pope has gotten into the act by claiming that they will ’erase’ the family and destroy society..

Well strangely enough cis women and LGB people still seem to be around…families too last time I looked, heck even feminists (who except for the tiny TERF fringe support trans people).

Amazing eh?

This is the same old and very tiresome tactic of ‘threat inflation’ that we also get from the religious right, take this piffle: “ destroying biological science, persecuting women, and imprisoning and killing people.”… So trans women (lets be clear what he means) are doing this? How? In what way? Who are trans women imprisoning and killing? When?

And whose ‘biological science’? Many scientists totally disagree with his naive school boy understanding, take this Nature article:
“ The idea of two sexes is simplistic. Biologists now think there is a wider spectrum than that.”
“ So if the law requires that a person is male or female, should that sex be assigned by anatomy, hormones, cells or chromosomes, and what should be done if they clash? “My feeling is that since there is not one biological parameter that takes over every other parameter, at the end of the day, gender identity seems to be the most reasonable parameter,” says Vilain. In other words, if you want to know whether someone is male or female, it may be best just to ask.”

Or this: “Dr. Robert Sapolsky, a professor of neuroscience at Stanford, lectures on the similarity between a transgender person’s brain and the brain of a cisgender person of the gender with which the former identifies.“
