QR codes are all the rage in India. Whether it’s offline or online payments, a self-serve ordering experience at restaurants, ATL or BTL marketing, contact details sharing and so on, the applications are endless and wildly successful in most cases.

Today we would explore of the use-cases of widely used QR Tech.

Proposal: Building a Universal QR code based login application.

Approach:
1. Understanding the pain point of current login systems.
2. Stakeholders and value proposition of the proposal for them.
3. Early adopter personas.
4. Competition in the market
5. User Journey and Wireframes
6. Followed by User Stories
7. Revenue Model and Pricing Strategy
8. GTM Strategy
9. Metrics to track

Let’s start with some pain points users have with todays Login Systems/ Options.

  1. In the current digital age we use a variety of new/old applications on a daily basis. No one can deny the hassle users have to go through to create and remember passwords for each of the interfaces they interact with.
  2. Over and above the convenience, users worry about the accessibility of these passwords. They do not have the visibility on what platform they have been logged in or have an active session on.They do not have control over their active sessions in various platforms.
  3. Even on the client/ Platform end, they struggle with classic problems like one subscription but multiplier users using it. Netflix is the classic example for the same. They are putting consistent attempts to tackle this issue.

Stakeholders and Value — Propositions

We propose to build a Universal QR based Login application which will solve for the above mentioned pain points. Let’s have a closer look on the Value Proposition this solution beholds for two stakeholders.

Stakeholder 1 — Customers

  • Easy and hassle free login experience
  • Control and visibility on all logins the user has made on multiple platforms.
  • One stop application that works as Password manager and authenticator.

Stakeholder 2 — Client Organisations/ Platforms

  • Improved engagement or retention due to improved login processes.
  • Control on “One subscription : one user usage” kind of a problem and thus improved revenue.

Lets now take a look on some Customer Personas (early adopter personas)

Digital Nomad: This persona portrays those that utilise many platforms for project management, communication, and collaboration while working remotely. The inconvenience of managing and remembering numerous login passwords while often switching between platforms is one of their main pain points. They are looking for a solution that provides a quick and safe login process across various platforms.

Small Business Owner: This persona reflects business owners who frequently need to use a variety of business management, e-commerce, and financial services platforms. The time-consuming process of setting and remembering passwords for each platform, the danger of password-related security breaches, and the necessity for quick login processes to reduce waiting time and increase productivity are some of their grievances.

Competing products/ offerings (how are users addressing the pain points presently?)

  • Users rely on password manager software to save and automatically fill in their login information. This may not provide a seamless login experience across all platforms, and it still necessitates keeping and remembering a master password.
  • Some platforms allow users to sign in with their social network accounts. The use of only social media sites for authentication poses issues with privacy, data sharing, and possible risks.

Early adopter market size

A universal QR code for platform login is predicted to have a sizeable early adopter market given the proliferation of digital platforms and the growing demand for seamless login processes. Remote workers, independent contractors, small business owners, and people who extensively rely on digital tools and services are all part of this sector. More precise projections of the prospective market size can be made by doing market research and studying the target sectors.

User Stories or Key Features

  1. We will require an integration with Partner Platform applications
  2. Full blown application where users can generate/ access Universal login QR code and related functionalities.

Partner Platform Integration

Note: Mentioning the mandatory action items only

  • QR Code Scanning: On the login page of the platforms (Netflix, Facebook, Instagram, banking apps, etc.), users can select the option to login via QR code. They would then use the platform’s built-in camera or a dedicated QR code scanning feature to scan the QR code generated by the universal system.
  • Authentication: The platform’s server receives the scanned QR code and decodes the information within it, which should include the user’s unique identifier. The server then verifies the identifier with the universal QR code system to ensure its authenticity.
  • Authorization: Once the user’s identity is confirmed, the platform can then grant appropriate access and permissions based on the user’s account settings and roles.
  • Registration: Users would need to register their account on each platform and associate their account with the universal QR code system.

Universal login QR code Application

  • Users should be able to create an account on the application.
  • Users should be able to generate the Universal QR code.
  • Users should be able to link platform login to the Universal QR code.
  • User should be able to view all the platforms on which he/she has logged in Via Universal QR code.
  • Users should have the ability to log out from the platform from this app.
  • Users should be able to enable Multi- factor authentication on the QR based login as an extra security layer.

Standard Security Feature

  • To avoid fraudulent activities and cheating. The QR code will have a valid value associated with it. After a regular interval the existing QR code will be replaced by the new QR code with the same information encoded within it.

User Journey and Wireframes

User Journey

Wireframes

  1. Platform interface

2. Universal QR code Application

Revenue model & pricing strategy

  • Offer a free, basic version of the global QR code to draw in a large user base using the freemium business model. The free edition might only offer a few customization choices.
  • Premium Upgrades: Include premium features in a paid subscription plan, such as enhanced customisation, priority support etc.
  • Enterprise Solutions: Adapt the QR code solution for companies and organisations, including enterprise licensing, support for integration, and extra security measures.

GTM strategy

  • Partner Collaborations: Work together to implement the QR code login option on well-liked platforms, especially those with sizable user bases. This collaboration can promote increased acceptance and market penetration.
  • Reach out to industry leaders, tech bloggers, and security professionals to spread the word about the advantages of the Universal QR code login solution. To create buzz and credibility, encourage people to talk about their experiences and write product reviews.
  • Direct Marketing: Use digital marketing tools to specifically target early adopters, such as social media ads, search engine marketing, and content marketing. Emphasize the advantages of the QR code login solution in terms of simplicity, security, and time savings.
  • Pilot Programmes: Run pilot programmes with a few chosen businesses or user groups to get feedback, improve the product, and get good reviews.

Metrics to track

Adoption is the first metric we need to track as this is new featured launch. Some the metric that are relevant in the context are

  • # Users that created the account on “Universal QR code login Application”.
  • # Logins made by the users through the QR code.
  • # Partners integrated with.
