Since the pandemic began in early 2020, the world has seen a dizzying shift in social norms, attitudes, and behaviours. A renewed enthusiasm for road trips is one such trend that has emerged and appears to be here to stay. Americans have been grabbing hold of the promise and adventure offered by road trips as a result of the pandemic’s widespread reluctance to use public and common carrier transportation (think aeroplanes, trains, and cruise ships) and a simple desire to escape our daily lives and even disconnect.

The most recent RVshare 2022 Travel Trend Report reveals that 54% of Gen Xers and 70% of Millennials intend to take a vacation or road trip in an RV within the next 12 months*. In addition, the availability of remote work for many employees has opened up a plethora of new travel options, including extended trips and simply working in a different environment.

But before you press the gas pedal to get out of dodge, think about what would happen if your trip were to be disrupted by something unexpected and unpleasant. Just like any other vacation or trip, a road trip should be covered by travel insurance. Litso Travel Insurance Services’ Road Trip Insure Travel Protection Plan was created with road trip travel in mind. If your trip is cancelled, delayed, or interrupted for a covered reason — such as a severe weather event, an accident, illness, or termination of employment — the plan may cover pre-paid, non-refundable trip expenses (read the plan for specific details). The following are examples of non-refundable prepaid travel costs:

Rental of a car or RV, tickets to amusement parks, admission to national parks, tickets to concerts, reservations for camping sites, and tickets to sporting events are all covered by the plan. Hotels are also included. The plan also covers emergency medical evacuation and medical expenses in the event of an accident or illness while you are on vacation. After all, even for domestic travel, your primary health insurance may not cover all of your expenses away from home. Travel insurance, on the other hand, may even cover copays and deductibles for covered injuries or illnesses that occur on your trip.

While there are a lot of comprehensive travel insurance plans to choose from, the Road Trip Insure Plan from Litso Travel Insurance Services has some features that aren’t on many other plans and could be especially helpful for road trips. Travel Inconvenience, Pet and Service Animal Travel Medical Expenses, Vehicle Coverage in the Event of an Interruption, and the Possibility to Upgrade Your Plan to Include Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) and Interruption For Any Reason (IFAR) Coverage** are a few of these features.

What’s better? For a single premium, this plan covers EVERYONE in your car. Instead of covering each individual, plans offer coverage per reservation (with a maximum of 10 people covered by each plan). Plan rates are determined by the total cost of the trip for each reservation.
