Pulled Over (Again)

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
I was just pulled over! (Well, in May 2016.)
The officer was very friendly…we made small chat…he asked about my 277,300 mile car…and waited for me to ask:
Tim: Officer, why did you pull me over?
Cop: You were speeding.
Tim: I was? (Thinking.) My cruise was set on 68 (on I-35; speed limit 70; did I raise a red flag by driving so slow?)
Cop: You were.
Tim: Was it back when I passed the semi? In that cluster of cars?
(That was 10–15 minutes ago.)
Cop: It was.
Tim: I’m sorry. I don’t have a good excuse.
Cop: I’ll let you off with a warning this time.
I am grateful for many things:
* No $150 ticket.
* Travel time to see family.
* Countries with autobahns and no speed limit.
* Montana, back in the day, when they had no limit (and studies proved that no limit was actually safer).
* Data. Data and heart eventually have to win this argument.
* Officer Cool (that’s his real name) was actually a good man. I asked him if it was his childhood dream to become a police officer. He said it was.
Officer Cool: Enjoy Memorial day with your family.
Tim: You too. I’m glad I met you! (Thinking about it.) Well, actually, I’m not really glad….
Officer Cool: Take care.
Honestly, I think God got me out of this one. I know the police have quotas to make. I am a grateful man.
Drive safely, and love on your families.
