The Sea — A Poem By Anirudh Iyer (#Poem6Of100)

The Sea,
In its never-ending grit,
With its fate, it does not agree,
Unmoving it refuses to quit.
Lashing away at the shores,
In its incessant determination,
As if it’s one of the household chores,
Never leaving for a vacation.
Never slacking a moment,
It has shaped our lands,
It’s a godsend,
Working away whether rocks or sands.
Never succumbing to the test of time,
Continuing in perseverance,
Though we never give a dime,
It knows its purpose with clairvoyance.
Smiles wide as it eats the shoreline,
But its expression narrows,
Seeing the mud returning all fine,
On the cycle repeating it glows.
Happy it is with its job,
Eating and throwing up the shore twice a day,
As high tide arrives, with elation it does hobnob,
As the tide recedes, so does its expression turn grey.
Oh! The Sea,
In its never-ending grit,
With its fate, it does not agree,
Unmoving it refuses to quit.
