Coconut Oil and its Uses

In this house we use coconut oil for almost everything, but some people don’t know the benefits of having it in your house. So today I will be listing the many uses of coconut oil.

What is Coconut Oil?

Coconut oil is edible, its extracted from the meat of mature Coconuts. It has many uses. It is slow to oxidize, therefore, is resistant to rancidification, and can last up to six months.

Health ❤ Benefits

Coconut oil can prevent infection when you apply it to a small scratch or deep cut. You can use it on your sun burn to help sooth and prevent peeling.

Coconut oil can even help your hair grow faster, its crazy but its true. Use it to make your hair grow longer, thicker, faster. This is a great idea if you are trying to grow your hair out.

Coconut oil pulling, is a great way to remove bacteria and keeps your teeth and gums healthy. To do this, simply swish one tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth for 10–20 minutes, each day. Oil pulling works by cleaning the oral cavity in a similar way that soap cleans dirty dishes. It can prevent tooth decay, bad breath, bleeding gums, and it can whiten teeth, sooth throat dryness, improves acne, strengthen gums and jaw, and so much more.

Cooking with Coconut Oil

I love cooking, and I use coconut oil for almost everything I cook. Here are a couple things I use coconut oil in.

Popcorn

My favorite snack food is popcorn, when I make popcorn I make it on the stove top ( not the the microwavable bags). Instead of using butter, I use coconut oil. Its way better with coconut oil than it is with butter, and it’s so much healthier for you. Add a little salt and pepper and its the perfect snack.

Rice

If you are making rice, coconut oil is the perfect substitute for vegetable oil. When I make rice, I boil 4 cups of water then add 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, 1 teaspoon of salt and 2 cups of rice, and it tastes amazing.

Couscous

Couscous tastes absolutely delicious with coconut oil! Most people will use butter or olive oil, but I use coconut oil. To make this you need 1 cup of water, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, a tablespoon of coconut oil and 1 cup of couscous. Bring water to a boil, take off heat, add couscous, salt and coconut oil. Cover for 10 minutes. Boom, ready to eat.
