The shortest month of the year passed especially quickly this year.

It was clear it would be an important yet busy period with both the roll-out of the Confluence upgrade, and an eventful ETHDenver 2022 on the calendar. But February was also notable for a number of Livepeer-sponsored initiatives aimed at stimulating development in the web3 video space.

Confluence goes live: Confluence, the most significant upgrade to the Livepeer network since the release of Streamflow in January 2020, went live February 15th. A majority of orchestrators, including the network’s top performers, have now successfully migrated to Arbitrum, and are taking advantage of the benefits offered by L2.

On February 23rd, delegators were able to claim their delegated LPT and start earning fees on Arbitrum. To see the changes, simply navigate to the Livepeer Explorer and follow the Migration Guide. As well as reducing transaction costs and boosting profit margins, life on Layer 2 offers delegators more scope when choosing where to stake their LPT.

The Livepeer core team will keep working to surface opportunities for high-performing orchestrators to receive more delegated stake.

Thanks to everyone for their support during Livepeer’s transition to the next layer!

ETHDenver: It was great to meet the web3 world in real life at the biggest ETHGlobal event of the year! Organizers estimated more than 13,000 attended events in Denver, with thousands more participating online.

Livepeer Inc. was a sponsor, and hosted a number of events during the week-long affair.

The tech salon “Boards and Beers” on February 15th offered web3 developers and thought leaders a forum to discuss the future of the web3 tech stack. Livepeer’s Doug Petkanics and Eric Tang co-hosted, along with the founders of Arweave, Akash and Sia/Skynet.

The same projects reunited the next night for The Web3 Index Party: a celebration of the first index to use fundamental user data rather than market weighting to rank web3 projects. This is an important step forward for the ecosystem.

In between, all were invited to learn about the Livepeer vision for building the world’s decentralized video infrastructure and join the team for free coffee and breakfast at an event called the Livepeer Wake Up. Doug and the core team were available to answer questions and share ideas.

Eric Tang took the stage a couple of times during the gathering — leading a workshop called “Building with the Web3 Video Stack” and joining other web3 leaders on the Decentralized Media panel.

And let’s not forget the hackathon itself! Livepeer judges awarded first place to “Imbue”, a live streaming platform that aims to be completely decentralized and enable creators to connect with audiences and monetize their work while helping run the protocol.

There will be more prizes to come since the virtual portion of the hack runs until March 20th.

Thanks to all who took part in this year’s event. We hope you made new friends, interesting connections and great memories. We definitely did :)

Ethernals love: We’re proud to be a Gold sponsor for the ETHIndia hackathon 2022, which kicked off on February 25th. There’s still plenty of Ethernals action to come as the hacking action doesn’t wrap until March 27th. Livepeer’s prizes include a joint $5000 prize with Polygon Studios, the hackathons’s other main sponsor, for the best decentralized video platform. Check out all the prizes.

Didn’t get your application in yet? It’s not too late! The deadline is March 6.

Spring cleaning: February felt like the perfect time to clean house, a new bug bounty was launched.

Since February 24th, we’ve been offering hunters rewards of up to $40,000 to come up with fixes to safeguard against potential vulnerabilities. The size of the reward depends on the size of the risk. Find out more here.

Huddle01 and the videoconferencing future: Huddle01, a decentralized video conferencing platform that leverages Livepeer’s scalability to support meetings of unlimited size, will tell all about what videoconferencing will look like in a web3 world during a Twitter Spaces at 12 noon EDT on March 4th.

You may remember Huddle01 as the project that walked away with Livepeer’s top prize at ETHOnline in October last year.

That’s a wrap for February. There will be much more as we head into spring.

So stay tuned and get started with Livepeer!
