1in 10 people in the United States suffer from anxiety and/or depression. Unfortunately though, within the Latin community, seeking professional guidance is commonly met with a barrage of disparaging remarks.

Vaya con Dios.

Two years ago, Writer, Melanie Martinez was confronted with that barrage, and battled it head-on. As a creative who survived her own personal bouts with anxiety and depression, she branded MEL Á LA MODE, a platform catered to helping boost self confidence through communal support.

Part lifestyle blog, part message board, MEL Á LA MODE provides a sanctuary of sorts for women empowerment. Equipped with testimonials, inspirational quotes and other uplifting content, the site provides as much therapy for readers as it does for Melanie.

Now, working as a Marketing Coordinator for a New York State Medical Program, Melanie still manages her site, which boasts a global audience spanning over 31 countries. Sharing her journey with readers, and very candidly expressing her comfort with her own imperfections, Melanie hopes to evoke similar reactions amongst peers.

“Speaking my truth about my experiences with mental health has not only been freeing, but immensely gratifying. I’ve received so many messages of gratitude, hope and love for some of the hardest pieces I’ve ever published.

Help me continue to break the mold and silence the stigmas.” — Melanie Martinez

Although you can visit the site for daily musings on food, fashion and music, Melanie’s main angle is using her platform as a springboard to promote dialogue in live settings. An addition that will see manifestation throughout the remainder of 2016 and early 2017.

Very similarly to our brand, in more ways than one, Melanie invites you to live more and carry less.
