Iloilo City,Philippines. Public Utility Vehicle and the Traffic

I went out to do some errands a few days ago. It was hot and humid in the city of Iloilo, Philippines and yes, as a commuter, traffic is the enemy. And the traffic condition in the city is getting worse every year, especially in downtown area.

And of course, that one afternoon that I was out, the traffic was about to get on my nerves. I was about to blame every single driver on the road and curse the vehicle gods right at that moment.

But while I was about to go ballistic, I remembered one chapter in a book that I was reading entitled “Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff” by Richard Carlson. It says: “Imagine That Everyone Is Enlightened Except You.” That instead of getting pissed at someone, why don’t you ask yourself, “What Are They Trying To Teach Me?” That instead of getting mad to all the drivers that were causing the traffic, you should show compassion and patience towards them. That instead of cursing at them, why don’t you smile and understand the situation that the traffic condition is indeed getting worse every day.

In this book, it also says that you need to analyze what the people are trying to teach you, that once you get to master this, you will be far less annoyed and frustrated. It was actually a really good advice.

So I tried, seriously I did.

THAT SHIT DIDN’T WORK AT ALL!

If you are hungry and you are stuck in a dreaded traffic, everyone is seriously at fault… Except You!
