Components in a BI Architecture

One of the BI architecture components, the users/personas. Divided into three different group of users, technical staffs, business users and managers.

Data Warehouse Environment
The technical staff is the main person to build the data warehouse based on the data sources available using ETL process. The process includes organizing, summarizing and standardizing the data to make the data consistent and loaded for analysis.

A data warehouse will help in achieving cross-functional analysis, summarized data and maintaining one version of the truth across the enterprise.

Business Analytics Environment
The business users access the data warehouses based on their access rights and manipulate data to be presented to the managers. Usually, it requires a visualization tool to prepare the dashboard or reports to be presented via a portal or browser.

Performance and Strategy
Managers or the executives who have different access rights will be able to see different dashboard or reports. They use the results, most of the time in graphical interface to come out with business strategies and performance monitoring or KPI.
