Why am I here?…
And what do I want from my college experience, ideally?
First of all, I think I should start with the main reasons that shaped me in the last 3 years or so. Why did I even strive to study in the LUNN?
- Education. Yes, even if it sounds basic and beaten. However, it does not mean that I came here to learn languages only. I wanted to learn how to communicate, how to act in public, how to be a better person properly. I hear a lot of great stuff about the LUNN’s faculty. I had no doubts whether or not I should enter this university. I’m pretty sure I will be taught in the best possible way.
- New people. Every day we get to meet a great number of different people. Each one of them is special in his or her own way. Show me a person who doesn’t want to be surrounded by people of the same field of interests! Mutual understanding is highly important for all of us — it encourages us to work harder. This university is filled with people who are truly devoted to linguistics, isn’t it awesome?
- The ability to grow. It is natural that the more advanced the university is, the more it can give to its students. The LUNN offers numerous opportunities to go abroad to study, work, etc. It cooperates with different countries all around the globe. Personally, I’ve always had a dream of living in another country where I could practice my language skills.
- Stepping out of your comfort zone is highly important if you’re willing to become better, to learn as much as the world can give. All of us (I mean, the freshmen) leaped into adulthood this year, especially those who are to live in the dorm — far away from home and their loving family. We are, day by day, step by step, taught to act like adults, to live an absolutely crazy life! We won’t be the same anymore, we’ll be better, stronger.
Well, I guess that takes care of everything. I try not to expect too much from my first year at college as we’re all just starting to “crawl” into the linguistics world. Nevertheless, I do want to achieve success. I would love to speak like a native English person by the end of college so that I could move to another country without any language barrier and feel confident! Moreover, frankly speaking, I’d love to learn how to translate things in a literary way.
To sum up, I want to be a professional and I will put all the effort into becoming it!
