Tim, Lots of people are talking about the future of work but ignoring the elephant in the room — making meaning in each human life. Most of us do this through our work. We’re terrified by the prospect of loosing this “privilege”. Unless we address the future of leisure and new forms of status hierarchy we won’t be able to engage with the looming serious paradigm shift in our economic system. If you can’t find anyone more prestigious to bring up this issue at your conference, let me do it. I’m an educator, not an economist or sociologist, but as you well know these fields are all closely coupled. Might be informative to watch Wall-E again.
