I went to Shanghai in June and used WeChat for the first time. I was most delighted to use the real time translation button, and also to find that WeChat has made QR codes effective in China.
WeChat does so much though that there is a learning curve and it can be difficult to figure out how to interact with brands, companies, and organizations. I think Facebook’s approach to creating an ecosystem of interconnected apps works well and makes for better UX. I wonder if WeChat will ever move in this direction.
