Social Media gives you a chance to connect with your audience. You need good social media habits as a social media account manager to keep up with the changes and trends in the social media industry. What are some habits you should pick up and stick with?

1.SET GOALS

Set attainable goals for your business. These goals should be very specific and small. For example, it is best to start out saying “I want to get up to 1,000 followers by the end of May.” You want the goals to be attainable so you can have a mini win every time you accomplish something. Big goals are important but every month you don’t want to get down on yourself for not reaching the goals.

2. LISTEN TO YOUR AUDIENCE

Your audience is important. What would they be interested in seeing on Facebook or Twitter? Without your audience you have nothing so you want to keep them happy.

3. LEARN THE LATEST TOOLS

Apps, apps, apps, apps. Every day social trends change and new apps to use are created. Keep your eyes out for ones that can be beneficial to your business and use them wisely. Take time out of your day to check on the social media trends. What new platforms are people starting to use? You won’t want to take the plunge into a platform right after you learn about it but it’s a great idea to stay in the know.

4.HANDLE HARD TASKS FIRST

This is just something I’ve always heard throughout school. Take on your hardest task first. This could be the ask you don’t want to do. Don’t procrastinate something you don’t want to do.

5.KNOW WHEN TO TAKE A BREAK

Social media is 24/7. You are not. Know when to give yourself a break from the mobile world and even ask for help when you’re getting run down. Your co-workers, if they’re anything like the ones I work with at SociallyIn, will be glad to help and get you hyped up again to finish off the day.

“We are then what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” — Aristotle
