Water Dumping

I very well understand the good intensions of the “Ice Bucket Challenge” It’s exciting to see so many people on board and raising awareness for this nasty disease. My prayers go out for those who have been effected by ALS in any way as well.
However, I don’t agree with what this has turned into.
A fad. A Trend. A Craze. A source of attention. A competition. Slacktivism.
Famous Rapper, 50 cent, and Pro Boxer, Floyd Mayweather have even turned this incredible movement, into online bullying one another — (great roll models for the kids right!) and yes, some celebrities have donated generously without the drama but, I can’t ignore the fact that a huge majority of America is neglecting the very purpose of this event. These people are DYING. They have NO hope. There is NO light at the end of the tunnel for them.
We do the ice bucket challenge to demonstrate a mere glimpse of paralysis, but after a few seconds it’s over. Those with ALS, reside in bodies confined to that feeling to their very last breath. I guess it would just be nice to see more people making it about those who live with this disease, and less about creating the most clever way to dump a bucket of ice water on our heads.
