This. This little stick, not even as big as my shoe, caused me great alarm. After arriving home from errands, there was this loud sound while the car idled. Keeping cool for a minute, while sorting out the shopping bags, this “bang, bang, bang” was startling. It sounded like it would come into the console. After shutting off the car, the sound stopped. Okay, maybe it’s a hose that came off, but the car was running fine. Turning the car back on, and listening, nothing was heard. After the car cooled off, it was time to check under the hood. Other than needing to add windshield water, there was no issue.
The oil was due for a change, so an appointment was made. If there was a problem, the mechanics would find it. Pulling the car from the parking place, there it was, a stick. It was about 8 inches long and trimmed off some on the ends. Bingo! That was the culprit. It was that stick, picked up in the driveway of my neighborhood. Whew! That was a relief. After taking the car in for an oil change and finding no other issues, all was well. It’s the little things that can become big things or just stay as little things or no things at all. Gratitude abounds for that little stick. It could have been so much worse.
It won’t be long before Blue Boy has to find a new home. I hope that the next person who he appeals to will love him as much as he has been loved. And it is hopeful they are as fortunate.
What’s your moment of gratitude for this day?
