The Best Times of Year for Construction

Depending on where in the country you live, there are some pretty drastic seasonal changes. If you live in Southern California where the temperature hangs pretty consistently between the 60s and the 80s, you might not even notice that winter is happening, but if you live in New England, where average temperatures range from single digits to the 80s throughout the duration of the year, seasons must be taken very much into consideration when planning a construction project. Since, in many parts of the country, the ground is frozen throughout most of the winter, spring provides the first opportunity for construction crews to sink into the dirt and start digging out pools and basements. Construction is also busy because, much like spring cleaning, we want to renovate our world coming out of the cold of winter. If you’re looking to build in the spring, make sure you plan well ahead of time to get your project off to the start that you’d like.

This is the time of year when homeowners are looking for their residential construction projects to be completed. Since most people don’t want their homes to be under construction during the holidays, most residential construction projects have a ‘deadline’ around the middle of November. However, in other parts of the country, autumn is the optimal time to begin a project. Areas where summers are scorching and winters are mild, starting construction projects in the fall
