Fred, you are confusing violent crime with misdemeanour’s like public drinking, bouncing a check, shoplifting, skipping school. If the crime is violent, then of course lock them up and charge a bond that would insure they will show up for court if they are to remain free. A traffic citation that you are unable to pay by your court date should not mean you have additional costs added on and are locked up, increasing the “price tag” each day with no hope of getting caught up. It could even costs you your job.
