Taste the flavor of food😋😋🥗🥘🌮🥙

It is rightly said, “To eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art.” Food has become the new medicine of life. The type of food you eat directly reflects on your health.

Our food has 6 flavors which are: 1. Salty, 2. Sweet, 3. Sour, 4. Bitter, 5. Spicy and 6. Astringent. Each flavour plays an important part in our food. All these flavours together make the meal “samrassi”. These qualities shape, balance, and adjust the overall experience of a dish. If any one of the flavours is missing, then it creates a deficiency in the body.

According to Dadaji’s 7th Kalam, “Dearest Dada Bhagwan! Give me the infinite inner strength to control my excessive temptation towards food. Give me strength to consume well-balanced and wholesome food”, it is essential to eat a balance of all the tastes to avoid unnecessary temptations, which can lead to unhealthy eating habits.

To help kids understand the importance of healthy and inclusive eating, they were introduced to the concept of photography. They were asked to find and click pictures of food items from their kitchen, which have all the 6 tastes.

In this photography Masterclass 4, they learned how light plays a crucial role in capturing the essence of food. Keeping the dish in the middle of natural light and the camera makes the food look fresh, tempting, and drool-worthy, coordinating the color of the plate with the colour of the food, cleaning the surroundings, etc. were some of the points they learned in their session.

The belly rules the mind.
In order to add a little more fun and excitement, we prepared a healthy snack and drink during the session. The buddies got together and made some scrumptious Corn Bhel and Green Juice. Followed by this, we asked the kids to place their dishes against a window and capture the food dish in natural light.

All’s well that ends well. The kids had a blast preparing their recipes, capturing the dish beautifully, and eating with their buddies. A perfect way to end this Photography Masterclass.

Let’s try!

For this week’s DIY, the kids were asked to send 3 different pictures of their meals from 3 different days which had all the 7 flavors on their plate.

Thank You,
