Durant is absolutely right. People who love the sport of basketball will appreciate the opportunity to see it played beautifully by a team that should be historically great. Those who enjoy SPORTSTAINMENT! are upset because ‘But now I know how it [probably] ends!’

The NBA and every other professional sport needs the money and eyeballs of the dilettantes, but they aren’t fans of the sport any more than those who watch the Olympics for the puff pieces are fans of sport.
