Reads like a backhanded compliment, but honestly giving anything more than a 33% effort to a job is shortchanging yourself. Unions figured this out decades ago: 8 hours labor, 8 hours recreation, 8 hours rest — and that makes 24 hours a day. If it’s your own self-funded venture or you just really love what you do, then count the extra as recreation. Otherwise, no employer compensates enough to deserve your every waking hour. Those that demand it are asking for a favor they’ll rarely repay.
