Canal Saint Martin, Paris

Paris’ 10th arrondissement is well-known for its bustling streets, ethnic neighborhoods and the amazing Canal Saint Martin. Whether you would like to go for a stroll in the shopping streets or discover the hidden treasures of the city, you will certainly find what you are looking for there.

This Right-Bank area called “arrondissement de l’Entrepôt”, covers 4 different neighborhoods: Saint-Vincent-de-Paul, Porte-Saint-Denis, Porte-Saint-Martin and Hôpital-Saint-Louis. Moreover it covers 2 of the biggest Parisian train stations: Gare du Nord and Gare de l’Est.

It doesn’t attract tourists for its monuments but more so for its atmosphere and vibrant areas.

Canal Saint-Martin

Amélie Poulain’s fans will certainly remember the Canal St-Martin where she would throw small stones in the water and enjoy the green scenery surrounding her. Well, this is where we take you to.

This beautiful and romantic 9 locks’ canal is a perfect picture of the typical Parisian vision of peace and simplicity. Indeed, living a fast paced kind of life can be draining, this is why the locals are so grateful for this little haven. Many lovers take a cruise there or simply walk down the Canal, holding hands and enjoying the beautiful colors of the area.

On both sides of the Canal, restaurants and cafes have their terrace. We definitely recommend that you go try out “La Cantine de Quentin”. This french restaurant is a classic address of the area and offers many delicious meals. It’s located on 52 rue Bichat, 75010 Paris.

Exotic travels without leaving Paris

Paris’ 10th arrondissement is also very famous for the amazing neighborhood of Strasbourg St-denis and Chateau d’Eau where before feeling Parisian one feels like a citizen of the world. Sharing, exploring and enjoying are the key words when visiting these places.

Strasbourg St-Denis offers a mix of flavors coming from Mauritius, India and Pakistan. We recommend that you try out a “Mine frire” in the restaurant “L’île aux cerfs” located 12 rue du Faubourg Saint Denis, in the “passage Prado”. If you want to buy natural and traditional Indian products, you should definitely make a stop at the “passage Brady” where you will find traditional and natural hair and skin cares, grocery stores, fresh fruits and vegetables as well as restaurants.

Chateau d’Eau is packed with hair salons and beauty centers. This cosmopolitan area is well-known to be dedicated to African brands and restaurants. Speaking of which, we recommend that you try out the “Osè African Cuisine” located in 34 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Martin where you get to combine your favorite African flavors in a “à la carte” meal in a warm and convivial place.

Looking for a fantasy or a thrill?

Paris’ 10th arrondissement has many original places dedicated to make you forget the real world for a moment.

Starting with the “Manoir de Paris” which is the biggest haunted manor house of Paris. It’s not only an original attraction, it’s also a unique and frightening concept that opened its doors in 18 rue de Paradis, where people experience the darkest legends of the city. More than 30 actors in a 2 floors’ house play the horrific tales of the prisoner in the iron mask, the vampires of Paris and the barber’s blade (to only name a few).

Le Manoir de Paris

For those who would like to escape reality for a little moment, the options are endless in the 10th arrondissement. Indeed with around 8 theaters and the famous Palais des Glaces you have many shows and plays to attend throughout the year.
